Nepal
Nepal is a small landlocked country sandwiched between two large countries, China and India. The mighty Himalayas (‘abode of snow’) stand as proud sentinels over this enchanted land. Nepal is a melting pot of different cultures, languages and religions. Its capital, Kathmandu, is home to seven World Heritage Sites and is world famous for the rich art and architecture of a civilization going back centuries. From the snow capped peaks of the high Himalayas to the teeming wildlife of the Terai jungles, Nepal’s amazing diversity in topography and demography within miles of each other is something few other countries can match.

Nepal Cultural Tour (13 days)
Explore the ancient cities of the Kathmandu Valley and enjoy the art and architecture of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. Observe up close, the tradition and culture of a civilization that goes back centuries and immerse yourself in the joyful spirit of religious festivities that are such an integral part of everyday life in the valley. Experience the serene surroundings of Dhulkikhel and Nagarkot and be awed by the magnificence of great shrines like Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath and Changu Narayan. Explore and be amazed by the still very traditional villages of the artistic Newars - Bungamati and Khokana. Outside this enchanted valley, visit Chitwan, the destination of choice for those in search of jungle adventure and wonderful wildlife like the Royal Bengal tiger and the one horned rhino. Visit Pokhara, a city of amazing beauty and tranquil lakes as well as a splendid view of Machhapuchre Himal, the most beautiful of all the Himalayan peaks.

Everest Base Camp Trek (17 days)
This is perhaps the most popular trek in Nepal. From the tiny airfield of Lukla the trail leads through Sherpa villages, forests of fir and rhododendron and across high suspension bridges. Don’t be surprised to come across caravans of Zobkyos (yak-cow crossbreeds) along the way. Rest awhile at bustling Namche Bazaar where traders from surrounding villages intermingle with those from Tibet. Arriving at Tengboche, prepare to be overwhelmed by the close up view of magnificent peaks like Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. Up ahead at Gorakhshep, make a side trip up Kala Pathar, and one of the best of views of Everest is before you. Up above the tree line and across alpine pastures, you will reach Base Camp high on the Khumbu Glacier where colorful expedition tents scattered over a desolate expanse of rock, snow and ice make for a surprising spectacle.

Mustang Trek (17 days)
For long a forbidden city, Mustang has an aura of mysterious romance that few others can claim. After flying to Jomsom via Pokhara, the trail goes on to Kagbeni and, on the way, the mesmerizing view of the Nilgiri Peak accompanies your every footstep. Climbing out of the river valley of Chele, you will come across interesting Tibetan style flat roofed houses, some with sheep horns above doorways - amulets to guard against evil spirits. Then, onwards to Charang with its rolling fields, willow trees and houses separated from each other by stone walls and large dzongs and gompas. Mustang lies at the end of the Kali Gandaki beyond the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Lower Mustang is inhabited by people related to the Mananges while in northern Mustang (the ancient kingdom of Lo), the languages and the customs are of purely Tibetan origin.

Annapurna Circuit Trek (16 days)
This is a richly rewarding trek because one gets to explore the rich and varied scenery of both the northern and southern Himalayas. The thin atmosphere of the Tibetan plateau and its harsh environment contrasts starkly with thick fir and colorful rhododendron forests. On the way, one will meet a great variety of people, from the lowland Hindus to the highland Buddhists. After driving down to Besi Sahar via Dumre, the trail follows the Marsyangdi River and over several suspension bridges. On the way lie a number of Gurung villages and one is treated to the imposing view of Annapurna II, III and IV on the trail from Pisang to Manang. A virtual procession of snow-white ridges makes for a magnificent panorama from the dizzying heights of Thorung Pass at 5416 meters, while way down below lies the sub tropical Kali Gandaki gorge, one of the world’s deepest gorges and a busy pilgrimage and trade route having a preponderance of Thakali and Mustang tribes. The Kali Gandaki is also home to Magars and Gurungs. A long descent downhill takes you to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists, and Jomsom, which is renowned for its luscious apple orchards. Next, a challenging ascent uphill and you reach the pass at Ghorepani where the lovely sunrise and sunsets from nearby Poon Hill are enough to rejuvenate tired bodies and weary souls.  Then trek down to Pokhara, one of the most scenic cities of Nepal where the lovely Machhapuchre Himal glints silver at sunrise and towers over the city throughout the day, and the tranquil lakes beckon you to come partake of the pleasures their cool and shimmering waters promise.

Bhutan

The Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan calls itself Druk Yul, Land of the Thunder Dragon. Still in a partly secluded state, Bhutan has retained its reputation as an exclusive destination for select visitors. This has resulted in keeping intact the pristine nature of its surroundings, the proud culture and civilization of its people and the continuity of its deeply rooted religious traditions. Still relatively unknown to most of the world, this charming Himalayan Kingdom remains peacefully nestled in the eastern Himalayas amidst verdant forests and lush green valleys. Nature at its best – that’s Bhutan in a nutshell.

Splendors of Bhutan (12 days)
Thimphu, the tiny capital, is a most restful city to spend some time in. One will come across storefronts along the streets displaying a rich tapestry of Bhutanese handicrafts and textiles. Punakha Dzong, the winter retreat of the head abbot, is three-hours away from the capital. The impressive Wangdue Phodran Dzong stands atop a spur and commands a grand view. Gangtey Valley is a designated conservation area and borders the Black Mountains National Park. It is one of the most important wildlife preserves in the country because of the large flock of black necked cranes that winters here.

Magical Bhutan (9 days)
Besides colorful Paro and restful Thimphu, visit Drukyal Dong – a favorite center for archery practice. Visit also Punakha Dzong, the winter residence of the spiritual leader, lying between two rivers, ‘Phochu’ (male river) and ‘Mochu’ (female river). Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, sitting majestically on a spur at the confluence of the two mountain rivers, beckons you as does Taktsang, the most famous of all Bhutanese monasteries. Perched on a cliff side, at serene Taktsang one will hear only the murmurs of the gently flowing wind and the soothing sounds of hushed running water accompanied by the hypnotic chants of monks. Takstang means ‘Tiger’s Nest’: the Guru is said to have flown on the back of a tigress to the site of the monastery where he meditated in a cave for three months.

Land of Thunder Dragon

Premium Tour (14 days)

The moment you land at colorful Paro, overlooked by a dramatic dzong, you will be surprised to see houses so beautiful, they make you stop a moment to view and reflect. All around, you will see forests and fields with isolated farms and tiny hamlets strewn all over the countryside. The capital, Thimphu, is noticeably small compared to other capital cities, but it more than makes up for its small size with its majestic bearing. Thimphu lies in a wooded valley, sprawling up a hillside on the west bank of the Thimphu River. Punakha Dzong is the winter residence of Bhutan’s spiritual leader, the head abbot, and the Central Monastic Body. Trongsa, meaning ‘new village’, dates back only to the 16th century, and so is relatively new in the context of Bhutan’s ancient past. The Bumthang region encompasses four major valleys: Choskhor, Tang, Ura and Chhume. The valley is apparently shaped like a Bumpa, i.e. a vessel holding holy water, and Thang, i.e. field or flat place. Wangdue Phodrang Dzong is perched on a spur at the confluence of two rivers and has a commanding view over both the north-south and east-west roads.
