The closest national park to Kathmandu, Shivapuri or Sheopuri at 2,732m and it is rises to the second highest point on the Kathmandu Valley rim. From here, there are excellent views of the Himalayas to the west from Jugal and Ganesh Himal and eastwards towards Langtang. The rhododendron forests are in full bloom during March and April.
The Shivapuri watershed is an important source of water for Kathmandu and is surrounded by forest. You can start your Helambu Trek (7 days) from Shivapuri National Park.
