Situated at 2,300 meters on the valley’s eastern rim just 32 kilometers from Kathmandu, Nagarkot offers excellent views of the Nepal Himalaya including Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu and Manaslu. It also has sweeping panoramas of the terraced hillsides so typical of Nepal. It is a popular place for sunrise views and in particular, between October and March, the views can be astounding. However, between June and September, the monsoon brings clouds that can restrict views. In the autumn and winter, it can get very cold, so warm clothes are always needed up here, as it is quite a bit higher than Kathmandu. Nagarkot is particularly good for walking and mountain biking trails.
