Nepal has a small population of Muslims, especially found in the southern Terai areas close to India. Muslims arrived from the 15 th century, coming as traders from Kashmir. A further group arrived in the 17 th century from northern India. The Muslims in the Terai have many links to Muslim communities in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in India. |
