Everest Base Camp Trek (17 days)

This is perhaps the most popular trek in Nepal. From the tiny airfield of Lukla, the trail leads through Sherpa villages, forests of fir and rhododendron and across high suspension bridges. Don’t be surprised to come across caravans of Zobkyos (yak-cow crossbreeds) along the way. Rest a while at bustling Namche Bazaar where traders from surrounding villages intermingle with those from Tibet. Arriving at Tengboche, prepare to be overwhelmed by the close up views of magnificent peaks like Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. Up ahead at Gorak Shep, make a side trip up Kala Patthar, where you’ll have one of the best views of Everest before you. Up above the tree line and across alpine pastures, you reach Everest Base Camp high on the Khumbu Glacier where colorful expedition tents can be found scattered over a desolate expanse of rock, snow and ice, making for an impressive spectacle.
