Jungle
Safaris
The
plains of southern Nepal are home to an amazing variety of flora and fauna.
The tropical jungles of this region, known as the Terai, are an incredible
contrast to the towering mountains of the north.
The parks are a mix of Sal Forest, grassland, savannah and riverine forest.
•
Royal Chitwan National Park
Chitwan
is the most popular choice of those in search of jungle adventure. The
park is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, one-horned rhino, sloth bear,
langur monkeys, wild boar, numerous species of deer, leopard and other
jungle cats and over 400 resident and migratory bird species.
• Royal Bardiya National Park
Bardiya, in
the western Terai, comprises the largest and most undisturbed wilderness
area of the region. Drier and more remote than Chitwan, Bardiya contains
the country's second largest tiger population and daytime sightings are
more common here. The park provides excellent habitat for the rhino, wild
elephant, tiger, swam deer, black buck, gharial crocodile, marsh mugger
crocodile, Gangetic dolphin and 200 bird species. |

Whitewater
Rafting
The rivers that thunder
down from the high Himalaya churn with ferocity, mixing with melting glacier
water to crash through gorges, valleys and tropical jungles on their way
to the plains of India. They provide some of the fastest and most challenging
